Deep Dish Around the World

Good things have a way of spreading. Deep dish made our city famous. How we see it, Chicago’s cultural imports all pale in comparison to a golden pie crust with saucy, cheesy, over-the-top filling. Delicious deep dish has inspired the whole globe! Check out some of these international takes on Chicago's classic pizza pie.

Korea

A super-successful deep dish purveyor in this Asian nation is James Chicago Pizza, which has two locations in Korea and whose menu features a bulgogi pizza, topped with Korean marinated and barbecued meat.

Libélula in Bogota.

Columbia

Libélula pizzeria in Bogota is making Chicago-style deep dish with a Columbian flare. If you want pineapple or plantains incorporated into your pizza, you have a couple options. 

Japes in London.

England

Just across the pond, Japes makes some delicious deep dish. Classics with a twist grace their menu, including ingredients such as spicy nduja sausage, buttermilk ranch, and… chicken tenders. You thought only in America, right?

Poland

They say Chicago has the biggest Polish population outside of Poland. So it makes sense that Chicago is represented over there! Places like Pizza w Chicago in Poznań and Pizzeria Big Adriano in Warsaw have been peddling pizzas to the people for years.

South Africa

Although not as deep as in Chicago, deep-ish pan pizza is done well at Lucio’s Pizzeria, where all the classics are sold to the good people of Cape Town. You’ve got your Italians—Margherita, Quattro Formaggi, and Marinara—along with Mexican, Greek, and Hawaiian style pies.
